El programa Xbox Play Anywhere fue creado hace años con la idea de que los juegos funcionen bajo la misma licencia en todo el ecosistema Xbox. Quienes compren el juego en Xbox One, Xbox Series o Windows 10/11 PC mediante la Microsoft Store podrán jugarlo en consolas y PC, mantener progresos, logros y cualquier compra relacionada con el juego como una expansión o un DLC no consumible.
En el futuro más juegos serán añadidos al programa seguramente, pero por el momento no ha habido muchos anuncios al respecto. Es algo que no solo depende de Microsoft, sino de los terceros si deciden apoyar el programa o no. Todos los juegos con soporte de Xbox Play Anywhere tendrán el logo en la web oficial de Xbox o la tienda de Microsoft.
Actualmente se estiman que más de 300 juegos ya cuentan con soporte para Xbox PlayAnywhere.
¿CÓMO FUNCIONA?
Simplemente nuestro propio perfil de Xbox en Xbox Series, Xbox One o Windows 10/11 PC (mediante Xbox App) detectará la licencia y podremos instalar el juego en cada dispositivo cuando queramos. Todos los progresos quedan guardados en la Nube, así que no hay que hacer nada en especial para poder seguir jugando una campaña en solitario o junto con tus amigos.
En Xbox Series y/o One solo debemos iniciar sesión en la consola, ir a Mis juegos y Aplicaciones e instalar los juegos; En PC debemos simplemente buscar donde esta nuestra biblioteca de juegos desde la Aplicación de Xbox / Xbox App para Windows PC. Cada juego en PC recordemos que tiene sus requisitos en específico y debemos tener la última actualización de sistema en Windows 10/11 para acceder a la aplicación de Xbox.
¿HAY CROSS PLAY ENTRE ESTOS JUEGOS?
Si, en muchos casos hay soporte de cross-play entre las versiones de Xbox y Windows 10/11 PC establecido por defecto o con la opción a desactivarse. Por ejemplo: podremos jugar Gears of War 4 o 5 con nuestros amigos en PC, jugar el modo carrera cooperativo de Forza Horizon 5 con amigos sin importar la plataforma, o bien ir juntar a partidas personalizadas en Halo Infinite.
No obstante, algunos juegos de Xbox Play Anywhere no ofrecen soporte con cross-play siendo algo que depende totalmente de la editora o desarrolladora responsable del título. El soporte para el juego cruzado o cross-play están remarcadas en la descripción del producto en la Microsoft Store.
